A Message from Reverend Bill

Eastertide extends an invitation for us to live “radically astonished” at the empty tomb.

This season, we live the power of Pentecost and Ascension; as we mark our own descendings and arisings.

The Spirit comes down; Jesus ascends out of sight. What is gifted on Pentecost , and what remains on Ascension, is precisely this call to live in a sacred rhythm.

As Jacob dreamed of angels ascending and descending the ladder, so we might dream of how our everyday Earth conects with our everyday Heaven.

Like the earth greening this season, so we might be refreshed and restored by a clearer sense of the gifts of Easter: a deep knowing that we held in the loving energies of a One beyond all risings and fallings.

Always peace; always blessing,

Rev. Bill

This musical celebrates historic figures and familiar songs that helped to shape the present UCC and that represent our values and spirit.

6/14      "Stumbling Over Jesus "
Can the traditions about Jesus get in the way of experiencing the teaching he offers? How can you find your own Jesus, one that you relate to at a personal level? Your experience, the crucible where your story is forged, can open up to the great invitation of the gospel to live "a radically astonished" life.

6/21      "The Better Part ";     James Estes preaching

6/28      "The Perils of Being Raised from the Dead "; Reverend Steve Van Kuiken preaching
An exploration of the Lazarus story from John.

7/5       "Bring it to the Table"
Upon a teaching on the miracle of the loaves and fishes from JOHN 6: 1-14, each of us will bring something that represents a part of ourselves; a favorite toy, a book, a memento, a photograph, etc. to be placed directly on the communion table as we come forward. We will have a chance to explain our objects. On this weekend of celebrating freedom, we will take a moment to reflect on the freedom we have that comes from being made in the image and likeness of god.
